The moral of the story is the masters are lost. They had crap to work with to make this record. It's only issues are the current state of the record plant industry and the current demand for vinyl. There are few plants left and fewer that can do quality work with quality machines and techs. Unless it is a special release from like mobile fidelity or something the record will be more likely to have pressing issues. Pay for a good turntable, cart, needle and you should not have any issues with any version of Grassroots. People forget the basics. Wet and dry clean any new record before playing. Know how to use your tone arm and how to adjust the weight without ruining your record. Do the research and you will be better for it.
  • Light out of Fildon
I'm curious, how do you know the master tapes are lost? Did someone from Enjoy The Ride Records say that?
  • Brakora
I have the green version, no playback issues at all.
  • Xirmiu
Same here. Mine plays awesome! These bad boys are hard to come by now.
  • GWEZJ
Same here. Green with no playback probs.
  • Not-the-Same
The limited yellow, green and black versions of this record have been reported to have playback issues. Some people report skipping on various tracks on Side A - others report nothing wrong with their records. Just be aware when purchasing this vinyl that you could run into playback issues.
  • Abywis
I stated I had yet to come across a version that didn't skip. I still consider this a poor quality release. I'd change my mind if no one was having issues - but for the sake of something I'll edit my original post.
  • Kamick
So why then does your review say that none of these are any good? You contradicted yourself in response to your own review. I saw the 311 forum posts about this too and was surprised, since I don't have any issues.I don't agree with the way the label is handling this though.. aside from offering exchanges.
  • Xmatarryto
I post a lot on the 311 community forums and a fair share of people were having issues, not everyone though. I had originally bought the black version and it skipped. Not as much as my green. The rep from Enjoy the Ride records had the audacity to come on to the forums and say the records were fine. Obviously some were, some were not. The representative blamed "dusty" pressing factories.
  • Zinnthi
There are ZERO skips on my copy (same for my black and yellow). This is an issue that a good amount of people have run across but not all. By the way -- the Black copies are also limited to 1000, they are just not numbered like the Green ones are.
