Notes

Never fully released.

In January 2005 Rephlex mailed out black vinyl/binder editions of "Analord 10". Due to problems at the manufacturing/mail out stage, approximately 20 buyers did not receive their package. Rephlex mailed out a second batch in June 2005 to those who had not received their order. This second batch included a free copy of "Analogue Bubblebath 5". This distribution of "Analogue Bubblebath 5" was unannounced.

The only available version of the analogue bubblebath saga is all of them together, so I decided to upload them separately. Here is volume 5. Tracklist: Bubblebath 5 is an unreleased EP by electronic artist Richard D. The EP would have consisted of nine tracks, in alternating IDMacid techno and ambient styles. However, Richard decided that it was not up to par with the others in the series, so only a handful of vinyl test pressings were made. Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей Bubblebath. Isopropophlex-starting with a great loop and adding layers upon layers of beats one at a time-always reminds me of NIN's Broken EP, like something Trent Reznor would have produced if he mixed more techno into his industrial amalgam than metal, and Entrance to Exit is one of those songs we all could've sworn we'd. At just under 20 minutes, this album seems all to short, but it's a wonderful slice of great acid techno not commonly heard on James' other work, and worth every penny. Note: there are 2 versions of the album. The original 90s version that was leaked to the internet (I had the mp3s of it in 1996) and the altered 2005 version. Ignoring the removal of the swirling noise (which I always thought was a flange effect that was an intended part of the album) track one has new (annoying) musical elements in it. Just one drum, but it really ruins the song. I haven't been able to find differences in any of the other tracks but I couldn't swear to them being exactly the same. And yes, the closing track (cuckoo) is EXACTLY like the AB4 version.

The first track is mesmerising. The rest is pretty boring. Really not worth the price tag. And if you really need this record, go check the unofficial Analogue Bubblebath 1-5 bootleg. It's all on there for less money.
  • Anarius
does anyone know what speed this plays at? Only want to hear from people that have actually listened to the vinyl....
  • Maridor
Side one is longer than 20 minutes. It wouldn't fit if it was 45rpm.
  • Rit
Yea, I have it and it plays at 33 rpm

A1 is one of my fave tunes of all time. Very otherworldly and impish melody going on, like the soundtrack to meeting Pan on a foggy morning in Ireland. In regards to the bootlegs, there are two widely circulated versions, one with shit sound quality and one that sounds a lot better, luckily I have the decent sounding one. I used t think a lot less of this EP when I had the lower quality file rips but now I love it. Most of these tracks are still in the demo stages so you gotta judge it on that basis.
  • Kendis
Altogether uninspiring from what i heard on the available video, might be ok for going to sleep to but for a current, ludicrous price tag,,,blaaahhhh, fuck that !!
  • zmejka
So, you rated an extremely rare release that you do not own and haven't even heard properly, one star because people are asking high prices for it?
  • Priotian
220-250 people are lying. there were only 20-50 of these released with the analord series when those 20-50 people fell victim to a shipping error and didnt receive one or more of their analord albums. this album was sent, unreleased, to only those few people with their albums they failed to receive the first time.
  • Eigonn
That wasn't the only printing of the album. There were copies in the 90s going around.
  • Inertedub
I think they mean £160???270 people already own this record, it can't be that rare!Come on people!!!!
  • Morad
mcna1mcna1 mcna1mcna1 brksjns90 lol only 20 were ever released Fair enough, very rare copy then indeed :) Still not worth £1600 tho Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But since the only reason people are asking that much is because they saw someone on eBay sell one for that much, I tend to agree in this case

I'm gonna buy this for 2380 € within the next hours, guys. No regrets? This is your last chance, after it'll be gone...
  • Cordantrius
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha daftcombo I love your sense of humor! Plus whoever has bought this at a super ridiculous price thinking its an investment must be a total muggy little blank blank blank!
  • Jugami
Up to you man, I imagine you purchased it by now since one went missing. Any regrets?
  • Zieryn
Notice that the 2600€+ one is also very appealing, with its Georges Perec-style description of how every second of the record sounds. The seller just forgot to mention a fart audible at 4'33 on side-B. But not due to the record, apparently.
  • Androrim
Ever since Grant sold his copy on ebay last year for a gazillion moneys the prices skyrocketed for some dumb reason.
  • DABY
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST THAT PRICE TAGwhat if someone spent three thousand dollars on this white label and then two days later warp did a big repressthatd be fucking crazy right
  • Lucam
It'd be great if we got a vinyl release of this after all these years, I'd even take a bootleg over nothing.
  • Waiso
I would say this was one of the best in the series (next to ab3). Shame it is still not released, love the 1st track, and the string jam later in the release.
  • SARAND
damnwish i could've gotten this.
  • Black_Hawk_Down
Wondering how 242 people owns this record....
  • caster
They probably downloaded the youtube video. Some people.
  • Nenayally
Maybe, just maybe, some people clicked 'Add to Collection' even though they don't own it. Just a thought...
  • GoodLike
Probably p2p downloads :)

hello, in (approx) 1998 i spent about £20 on "1 of 5" cd's from Vinyl Exchange in Manchester on a CD i thought was Aphex Twin's "Analogue Bubblebath 5". I have the rest on vinyl, and this cd says "AFX AB5". The Vinyl Exchange sleeve i got at the time says "1 of 5" etc, which at the time was the most i paid for a cd. i have since see analogue 5 but i got this in the 90.s. the cd lenghts seem to be near enough for each track though the last isn/t on mine (b4 Cukkoo_). my cd is great quality and i think track 1 is pure AFX / class. Does anyone else have this CD? I am surprised it has never been released! also why does mine say "1 of 5 cd's?" i bought this in 199something. help?!
  • Levion
I bought it on CD way, way, WAY back in the day on ebay (there was a bootleg floating around WAY before the copies that leaked out with the Analord binder), so if you think you have it, you probably do. It's not official, though, not even a little bit. Also, the sound (at least on mine) is very low. It sounds fine, it's just very quiet. Nowhere near as good as the rips people have done and uploaded to YouTube since the Analord binder release.

Post pictures man and we'll tell you

If you 'Appreciate' the vast world of Richard D James, then 'Analogue Bubblebath 5' is essential. This release (If you can find it) is 'Different' than the somewhat 'Harder' and sometimes 'Faster', yet beautiful edge of the other 'Analogue Bubblebath' releases!'Richard D James' treats your musical 'Taste Buds' to something 'Different' once again!Bravo Richard !!!
  • Bladebringer
Only a few of the tracks on this album are good, while the rest are pretty generic (probably why it wasn't released). A1 is a solid opening track, and probably the best track on the album. A3 appears to be a 32 second clip of someone walking on leaves or something similar to that. Although it probably will never be widely released, there are authentic mp3s of AB5 on P2P programs in case you want to hear it for yourself.
  • Mezilabar
...'someone walking on leaves' you said this and as I read it I pictured the event along with the sounds. Completing the journy of the music and giving it purpose, prehaps... So very postmodern...possibly.
