Albert Edward Sammons CBE 23 February 1886 24 August 1957 was an English violinist, composer and later violin teacher. Almost self-taught on the violin, he had a wide repertoire as both chamber musician and soloist, although his reputation rests mainly on his association with British composers, especially Elgar. Albert Clifton Ammons March 1, 1907 December 2, 1949 was an American pianist and player of boogie-woogie, a bluesy jazz style popular from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s. Ammons was born in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were pianists, and he had learned to play by the age of ten. His interest in boogie-woogie is attributed to his close friendship with Meade Lux Lewis and also his father's interest in the style. Both Albert and Meade would practice together on the piano in the Ammons household.
