Public Image Ltd returned in 2009, after a 17-year hiatus. John Lydon financed the reunion using money he earned doing a UK TV commercial for Country Life butter. He said The money that I earned from that has now gone. That What Is Not Cass, Album, Promo. This is the only real PIL CD I own. I haven't figured out what era I ever liked of them mostly because they were always changing with the seasons, but this CD is pretty solid. I liked 7 of the 10 songs on it the ones I didn't care for were the tracks where Lydon's voice just gets out of hand and wacky, or when they incorporated a poem to song translation like in the 3rd track, it loses something that doesn't equal a great track for me. PiL are feeling a little cash-strapped and are hoping their US tour can fund their new album, the Sex Pistols frontman, John Lydon, has revealed. PiL last visited America in 1992 the same year they issued That What Is Not, their most recent studio album. Lydon dissolved the band shortly after. They did not reform until last autumn, after the death of Lydon's father. I had to have a release from that, the former Sex Pistol explained. That led me into going back and listening to Death Disco, a song I wrote about my mother's death. That gave me the lust to get up there, back on stage and express these feelings. Nice weather were having, isnt it So nice that half the country appears to have upped sticks and flocked to the beach, amid confused messaging from the top about what exactly is, or isnt allowed. For the record, no, were not supposed to be going to the beach en masse. The much-vaunted relaxing of rules doesnt kick in until 4 July and even then, large gatherings are still not permitted. Technically, were all still supposed to be social. This Is PiL's final two songs hint at the experimental dubby glory of the band's heyday, particularly the nine-minute closer Out of the Woods, which approximates' Metal Box's uneasy stagger for the only truly menacing, challenging moment on This Is PiL. It's an album that doesn't add anything to a cult legend band's legacy, but it does the unexpected duty of salvaging that legacy, showing a savvy mastermind in John Lydon, who's apparently capable of at least mimicking old glories. It would have been a shame if the band's swan song was le
