Album

Choice of Weapon is the ninth album by the British rock band The Cult. The album was planned for release in 2011, but the release date had since been pushed to 22 May 2012. Recording sessions for Choice of Weapon began in March 2011 with Chris Goss, who produced the 2010 Capsule EPs. The sessions took place at studios in New York City, Los Angeles, California, and the California desert. The album was finished in January 2012. During the recording sessions, Bob Rock teamed up with The Cult for the. But the 'Choice of Weapon' album is much more than a revival of past glories, it's also a chance for the band to show their range and experiment without going overboard. Wilderness Now' is one of the disc's more intriguing moments. It's one of the slower cuts on the record and it really takes hold with the band's string backing. A Pale Horse' shows off the Astbury's range as his soulful call and response vocal comes off like a bluesmanpreacher warning the audience, I'm gonna crush you right where you stand. And '. Choice Of Weapon is, in my opinion, The Cult's strongest release since their controversial self-titled album in 1994. And, with the band's lineup maintained since Born Into This, there's a welcoming tight cohesiveness to their playing, a sureness that just wasn't there before. This may as well mark the beginning of a much-needed, promising new phase in their career. Choice of Weapon will likely have Cult devotees-and newbies alike-in disbelief that its been almost 30 years since the band broke onto the scene. The Cult continues to bring it with their upcoming May 22 release, Choice of Weapon, which is their first studio record in five years. Written by the principal and founding members Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury, the album was recorded between July and December 2011 in a handful of locales before the finishing touches were applied by long-time Cult collaboratorproducer Bob Rock. The Fan Pack magazine would have contained all-new interview with The Cult's Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, plus fellow band members Chris Wyse and John Tempesta, with never-before-seen pictures of the band and the story behind the making of the album. Choice of Weapon is the Cult's finest moment in 23 years it's the true swaggering heir to the period that birthed Electric and Sonic Temple, and proof that - contrary to even Astbury's stated belief in 2009 - the album is far from dead. Track Listing. Choice Of Weapon is aimed at the heart of THE CULT's loyal following. It reflects the current discontent and destruction of our eco systems, the search for individual meaning against a tide of rampant materialism, narcissism and disconnected lives. We're still growing and still developing, Astbury told
