Frosting on the Beater is the third album by American rock band The Posies, released in 1993. It featured a heavier, more intense sound than the band's prior works, in part due to production duties being handled by Don Fleming. Dream All Day, Solar Sister and Definite Door were released as singles, with the first two getting moderate airplay and the third being the band's only single to break the UK top 75. One could argue that the big guitar attack of Frosting on the Beater was simply the Posies' way of trying to compete with the grunge sweepstakes that briefly turned their hometown of Seattle into the center of the rock universe. But one listen also reveals that it transformed a smart but overly precious pop outfit into a hard-charging power pop band that gained a wealth of strength without giving up any of their smarts in the process - not a bad bargain. Although this album is very 90's sounding, you can't help but like it. My teenage girls like it

Another one of those albums from the '90's where the CD release was done really poorly. The album comes to life here in a way that I never knew was possible. All of the compression is gone gone gone!!! Which is how it should have been from the beginning.

This pressing is absolutely blowing my mind. The clarity, the bass, everything is stellar. If anything, it might be a little hot, but a minor treble adjustment helps that. No big deal! Buy this and you will not be sorry. Oh so good! Thank you Omnivore and The Posies.

An excellent sounding and very clean pressing of an incredible album. Very impressed with the clarity on this one. Over the last 25 years I've listened to this album literally hundreds of times on CD, and it was as if brand new to me listening to this pressing. Definitely worth picking up!
